At this time of the year thoughts turn to progress and decisions made with my practice. Pulling together a few pieces of work – some old, some new – made me think about where next and what to present in May?
Three works are required – two are sorted (Dale Dyke and School Knott) but the third?
The front runner is one based on the village of Los Albaricoces (apricots to you and me) where much of the early spaghetti Westerns was filmed. In fact the whole area to the east and north of Almeria is fascinating for its desert and its use by Sergio Leone and other film makers. There are still film studios and Western shows around Tabernas north east of Almeria. I spent a bit of time there on my last visit as can be seen in a recent blog.
The work in its current state revisits various scenes in the first two films in the man with no name trilogy and tries to match up the locations from 1964/5 to date.
I can’t help but be drawn to the connections to the Japanese film industry and Kurosowa!
We shall see where this thread leads.
